Ladies
and Gentlemen - for the past two years, the Old Hamptonians
committee has continually requested for new persons to become
involved in this association. The support from former students to
become involved has not been forthcoming. The existing committee can
do no more, funds to continue the services we offered are now
extremely limited, and despite continued efforts, membership numbers
have fallen drastically over the past two years, to such low levels
as to make the organisation unmanageable and unworkable.
The Old Hamptonians Association needs an injection of new enthusiasm to survive.
We have been aware that many smaller groups of ex-students exist,
and we were hopeful that we may have been able to forge a united
front with some of those groups, to continue the work started 12
years ago. Unfortunately it is clear that future support is not
forthcoming.
We regret therefore to have to report that at the Annual General
Meeting for the financial year 2009 - 2010, the existing committee
and all office bearers will be standing down, and will not be
offering themselves for re-election. Unless a new committee is
elected, a formal motion will be put to call for a Special General
Meeting, with the appropriate and proper notice for the Old Hamptonians Association Inc to be wound up.
There are strict rules for this drastic step, and the process for
this will be advised in due course.
Pending the outcome of the 2009 -2010 Annual General meeting, no
further subscriptions will be accepted, nor orders for Pavers or CDs
processed. If we did continue to trade after this date (15 April
2010), we could be in contravention of the Trade Practices Act, and
the laws of Insolvency. We do not wish to run that risk.
Further information will be published here as it becomes available.
