Report on the 2008 Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting was be held on Monday 28th July 2008, at The Hampton RSL, Holyrood Steet, Hampton at 8.00 pm.
40 people were in attendance with several members attending for the first time.

Most of those in attendance also came early and dined at the venue.

Local Identity Graeme Disney gave an enlightening talk of the origins of the Hampton Primary School, some early Hampton history, and photos were displayed. His presentation was welcomed with acclaim, and many questions were asked of him.

The reports presented were from the President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Web Site co-ordinator.

A special vote of thanks was given to Bruce Bathols for his continued work with the production of The Aurora and also for the maintaining of the web site. The motion was carried with enthusiastic acclaim, after which Bruce made a suitable reply.

Bruce Bathols then conducted the Election of Office Bearers. All positions were declared vacant and as applications for several positions had already been received, the offices of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary were declared elected un-opposed.

It was pleasing to have the 2007-08 President Graham White in attendance. Graham was accompanied by his wife Judy, and the both of them have been through a most difficult year with Graham's major health problems. Although Graham is now confined to a wheel chair, he still wants to be actively involved, and has accepted the position of Vice President.

Nominations for the committee were requested from the floor, and it was very pleasing to see David Tomlinson put up his hand to join the committee.

The AGM was then closed and the attendees chatted for quite some time.

organisation, and is one of the benefits of being a registered "Incorporated Association".

The overall registration cost is also much cheaper than the standard dot.com fees.
For some time now, we have been considering establishing our own site, and not rely on the "freebies". Up to now the free previous site at YAHOO! Geocities has served us fairly well. However there were always problems for us with that service. This also included in being bombarded with "advertising", which used to annoy many of our members and those perusing the web site .

We have researched the various facilities available, and we have been pleased to accept the web hosting facilities with OzBizz. Their details may be obtained from www.ozbizz.com.au. Compare their services and costs and you will see what we mean.
